About Socks
They are warm and soft, carrying and grateful – an equal part of each family. We craw in them cheerfully, stand up and make our first steps around the house, running towards Mum with laughter
Later our mothers keep them in a special locker remembering our “chubby” baby legs with melancholy. We often fall asleep in them and dream. We take them off to dress our first puppets.
Later, when we realise that there is a big new space outside our room, our feet stretch them in a cheerful play around the park, and also when we come back home breathless after a basketball or a football match
We sneak in them in order to steal well-hidden Granny’s cakes. We like to wear just these, favourite socks to school, when we celebrate birthdays, give them as a present, when we go on our summer vacations, excursions, first movies and roller skating
Later when we become interested in music we scatter them merrily around the room and we choose the prettiest pair for the party, concert or for long walks in the rain. They grow slowly with us, and apart the suitcase full of our memories, we take them with us to our new home, too.
We start realising how convenient they are for our job, long and tiresome business meetings, helping us not to collapse.
When new, small, noisy members step into our family we realise that everything starts all over again.
